Meet Carol Maraj, a distinguished executive leader, renowned speaker, and passionate philanthropist. As a tireless advocate in the fight against domestic violence, Carol has dedicated her life to raising awareness, providing support, and empowering survivors. Her journey is deeply personal drawing from her own experiences as a survivor; Carol brings unparalleled insight and compassion to her role as a global advocate and influential thought leader.


In addition to her philanthropic endeavors, Carol Maraj is a dynamic business owner and top executive. She has successfully launched and scaled the Carol Maraj Collection, a brand that reflects her commitment to excellence and empowerment. Her business expertise has not only propelled her ventures to new heights but has also inspired countless women to embrace entrepreneurship as a pathway to independence and success.


A sought-after speaker and mentor, Carol Maraj uses her platform to advocate for change, sharing her powerful story of resilience and leadership on the world stage. Her insights on leadership, empowerment, and social responsibility resonate with diverse audiences, from corporate executives to grassroots activists.

Stephanie Joy Wilder, Director of Strategic Initiatives


  Stephanie Wilder is the Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Carol Maraj Foundation. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Social Work (MSW), deepening her expertise in trauma-informed care and advocacy. In addition to her nonprofit leadership, Stephanie serves as a Department Head within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where she brings a systems-level perspective to her work with survivors and at-risk communities. As the author of The Brighter Side Journal and developer of the upcoming Journaling with Joy program, she leads innovative, healing-centered initiatives that empower youth and survivors through expression, connection, and safe community spaces. Her work focuses on building strategic partnerships and programs that align with the Foundation’s mission to support and restore lives through advocacy, education, and hope. 

Jonathan Lee Walker, Director of Public Affairs


 Jonathan Lee Walker serves as the Director of Public Affairs for the Carol Maraj Foundation. He holds a Master’s degree in Education and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D), demonstrating a strong commitment to lifelong learning and academic excellence. Jonathan is the founder of The J.L. Walker Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational programming that strengthens the non-cognitive skills students need to thrive as productive citizens. In summer 2025, he launched JLW Academy, a dynamic initiative that reflects his passion for student empowerment and holistic development. Jonathan brings a wealth of experience, vision, and heart to the Foundation’s mission, making him an invaluable leader and advocate within the community. 

 The SAFE Youth Initiative is a program designed to teach youth effective techniques for preventing and peacefully resolving uncomfortable situations including physical altercations, verbal disputes, and confrontations. Through engaging activities and real-life tools, SAFE empowers young people to respond with confidence, care, and calm.

 The Brighter Side is a 30-day guided journal created by author Stephanie Joy Wilder to help youth rebuild confidence, process emotions, and grow through life’s challenges. Through daily reflections, real-life stories, quotes of encouragement, and engaging activities. This journal offers a meaningful journey toward healing, purpose, and inner light. In partnership with the Carol Maraj Foundation, this resource supports youth on their path to emotional wellness and transformation.

Journaling With Joy is a youth-centered healing initiative created by Stephanie Joy Wilder in partnership with the Carol Maraj Foundation. This program is designed to help young people process emotions, build self-worth, and discover hope through guided journaling, workshops, and safe community spaces.

Each participant receives a copy of The Brighter Side, a 30-day healing journal written by Stephanie. Through hands-on sessions and mentorship, youth are empowered to reflect, express, and grow.

This effort relies on community support to reach as many youth as possible. Every donation directly supports journal distribution and the continuation of workshops in underserved communities.

Recap: SAFE Youth Initiative Event 2025

Empowering the Next Generation with SAFE Tools and Conversations

The first SAFE Youth Initiative event at the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Queens brought together teens and community leaders for an engaging day of healing-centered dialogue, scenario-based learning, and self-expression. Participants explored real-life challenges through the SAFE workbook and non-verbal self-defense activities designed to build confidence and communication skills. The event marked the powerful launch of a youth-focused movement led by Carol Maraj and the foundation team.
